Reflections

Please find some reflections here during the season of Lent and Easter.

Here are some ideas, small acts of worship or reflections that you may want to use or think about whilst you are at home.

Bishop Marcus has written a letter about how to worship from home during Holy Week. Please find that here.

Please also refer to the parish website and the Virtues section of our website! Cafod also have some useful and child friendly resources too!

God bless,

Mrs Robinson

Today, we celebrate the Last Supper and that most incredible act which has been the foundation of our Catholic faith ever since. Jesus anticipated his own death and in doing so, transformed it into an act of love. His words and actions in the Upper Room that evening still inspire us today, as they have inspired the generations that have gone before us; He set a new and almost insurmountable standard by washing the feet of his Disciples. This act serves as a constant reminder to us that when we show love to our neighbour, like He did that evening, God is there.

Listen to the words of the beautiful prayer: Ubi Caritas.  The original text was set to Gregorian Chant as would have been customary at the time it was written. This setting is from 1960 and was composed by the Frenchman, Maurice Durufle. It would normally be sung in churches and cathedrals all over the world this evening as priests wash the feet of the faithful.

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est.

Where charity and love are, God is there.

Congregavit nos in unum Christi amor.

Christ's love has gathered us into one.

Exsultemus, et in ipso jucundemur.

Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him.

Timeamus, et amemus Deum vivum.

Let us fear, and let us love the living God.
Et ex corde diligamus nos sincero.

And may we love each other with a sincere heart.
